In today's accelerated world of information overload, distraction, chaos, and uncertainty, we're being called upon to deepen our mastery of regenerative practices, grow our resilience, and trust our instincts -- now more than ever. 

Our academic, professional, and social conditioning has trained us to rely on information, achievement, and the pursuit of "success" -- at the expense of our intuition, instinct, creativity, spontaneity, and joy.

Each meditation follows this format:

  • Opening message for the day

"What is the purpose of my life?", I asked -- to whomever may be available for such things in the Universe. It was 2010, my son was a year old, I was between careers, and my marriage was falling apart.

To say I was stressed would be an understatement. And as an emotionally reserved introvert with a strong aversion to looking foolish, I thought intentional laughter was bizarre and certainly not something that I'd be doing.

And yet, as I continued asking for clarity and guidance, the practice of intentional laughter was the only thing that kept appearing on my path. 

*sigh.* At last, I surrendered, picked up the phone, and signed up for a class on laughing. I felt like an idiot.  

Three weeks -- 21 days -- after starting the daily practice of intentional laughter, I sat on the sofa nursing my son, once again asking for clarity and guidance. "What is the purpose of my life? There must be a bigger reason for me to be here, but what?"

With a master's degree in History, a certification as a skydiving jumpmaster, and a passion for everything from triathlon to jazz piano, my path until this point had been varied and diverse. But when a dear friend died suddenly in a skydiving accident, I'd started asking deeper questions about the purpose of my life. And now, with my marriage on the rocks and single-parenthood imminent, I was desperate to discover my path. 

On that day, relaxing in the post-laughter endorphins, I received a vision: like a movie screen in my minds' eye, I saw a vision of my future self -- leading transformational travel and joy retreats, laughing and playing with people, sparking joy and aliveness through shared experiences, retreats, workshops, and travel adventures. 

"That's it!" I instantly knew this was my path. I didn't know HOW to do any of this, but I felt it as truth, and knew it could be trusted

A month later, again after my now-daily laughter practice, my intuition said "it's time to file for divorce." Whaaaaa??? "No, you don't understand, I need something SERIOUS," I insisted to whomever was responsible for such things in the Universe. How would I support myself and my son? By what, laughing? Yeah, right. But there was no way I could go back to a 9-5 job and put my son in daycare for a paycheck-and-benefits hamster wheel existence -- no way, now that I had a clear vision for my life. But laughing gave me the courage and confidence to take the next steps.

Thus commenced my grand experiment -- to see what would happened if I lived on the wings of trust and laughter -- to follow my heart, trust my instincts, and discover what it really takes to create "something" out of "nothing" day after day after day, following an invisible thread, sometimes questioning my sanity, all while engaging in this daily practice of laughing, listening, and trusting what comes.

Seven years later, my experiment has led me around the world, laughing and playing with people, coaching, speaking, leading retreats, creating a thriving and fulfilling business, and living the vision -- beyond anything I could have imagined. What I've learned along the way, is that our desire and intention, coupled with the physiological, mental, and emotional shift that laughter creates, allow for powerful insights and inspiration to emerge. 

When we ask powerful questions, and allow ourselves to embody a state of receptivity, our inner wisdom emerges. 

And by connecting with our authentic essence, we cultivate the courage, confidence, and clarity we need to move boldly on our path -- into the unknown, where the greatest possibilities and miracles await.

Don't take my word for it, though. Live your own experiment. Shift your physiology and perspective through laughter meditation, and see what emerges for you. As the sound vibration of your own laughter clears your body of stored emotions and fears and fills your cells with your own joy, you will arise stronger, clearer, and more connected with what really matters to you.

"This laughter program is the best medicine ever....literally! At the beginning of the program I sustained a nasty fall leaving my face very scraped and bruised along with parts of my body. The day following my accident I participated in the joy call and then got to watch my body healing in miraculous ways, both inside and out. The processes were so helpful in giving those parts of my body that were damaged more attention, and I got to experience a miraculous healing.  

Also, I just love Anne’s sound effects and the analogies. The mini-jackhammer exercise was so fun and funny – and I realized how many layers like cement were being chiseled away. I’ve had as many tears as laughter, but what I noticed is the shifting – the cement gets moved and everything is a little bit lighter.  

I'm so grateful for this program, and that I have these resources to work with! I'm noticing this change of attitude, this flowing more into the allowing and the ease, versus life always having to be an effort.
